The thing about starting your blog on 1st of January is that you never forget its birthday. Guiding Tech, or GT as I like to call it, started exactly two years ago on this date when I figured that troubleshooting stuff & writing about them, and managing (plus growing) a blog, is what I am good at and hence doing that made sense for me. The last year was an eventful one, both for GT and for blogs and websites around the world. It was last year when Google decided to roll out several of its major algorithm changes that affected almost all blogs. For some it was good and for others, terrible. Last year also saw a lot of consolidation in this industry with many top blogs being grabbed by big media companies confirming the fact that blogs have come of age as a sustainable business model. For GT, it was an year of traffic growth, staff addition and great content. We added a huge number of happy readers over the course of last year and am sure 2012 will be no different. Two years isn’t a long time in this business and we have a long way to go. On behalf of the entire GT team I’d like to thank everyone who has read us and spread the word about us in 2011, and I hope you people won’t ditch us in 2012. 😉 As you know, we value reader feedback more than anything, so make sure you post a comment here or send an email to [email protected] if you’ve got any suggestions, criticism or appreciation. A happy birthday to GT and a happy 2012 to everyone out there! Wish this year brings peace and happiness to all.
