Since this is going to be a long post, let’s jump straight in.

1. Redmorph

The first app on our list is Redmorph. If you’re worried about the current state of privacy and security, this is a must-have app for your Android phone. Redmorph gives you a detailed idea of which app on your phone is tracking your activities or is using far more permissions that it should. It sets up a local VPN on your phone so as to track the online activities on your device and blocks the trackers. Though a very useful app, the only issue with Redmorph is that you won’t be able to use a secondary VPN service while it’s in use. The app is free to use for a trial period of one month, after which you’ll have to upgrade to the pro version. Download Redmorph

2. VPNhub

As suggestive of its name, VPNhub is a simple VPN app and gives you the independence to browse the internet freely. It has a number of countries available to select and using the app is as easy as 1-2-3. All you have to do is select the country and tap on the Connect icon. Once done, just open a browser of your choice. The app is free on the Play Store, however, some of the countries are locked. To unlock the other countries, you’d have to upgrade to the paid version which will cost you around $11 per month. Download VPNhub

3. EasyJoin Essential

Without the good ol’ data transfer cable, transferring items to and fro from the computer can be quite a task. While Bluetooth can handle a couple of files or pictures, the problem occurs when you have to transfer a huge pile of documents or a heavy file. That’s when Easy Join comes into play. EasyJoin Essential lets you send everything from messages, files, folders, apk files, from your phone to PC in an instant. It needs a personal Wi-Fi network, to which both the PC and the device need to be connected and the transfers happen at the speed of light. Unlike Bluetooth pairing, you don’t need to search and pair, all you need to do is setup the app on the PC and a one-click share will do the rest of the work for you. After Microsoft’s Photo Companion, this is fast becoming my favorite app for files transfers! Download EasyJoin Essential

4. Zero Live Wallpaper

Looking for a brand new set of live wallpapers? We have got the perfect app for you. The Zero Live Wallpaper app has a beautiful collection of high-resolution 3D parallax wallpapers that will truly lift up the look of your home screen and lock screen. The number of available wallpapers are quite decent and stand out from the usual herd. From space wallpapers to cityscapes in double exposure, you can find everything here. Just make sure that while you are downloading the wallpapers, you’re not on a capped data plan. Download Zero Live Wallpaper

5. Ottipo Photo Editor

One of the new photo editor apps to join the league is the Ottipo Photo Editor app. Made for the Instagram crowd, this app boasts of a slew of tastefully-done filters, stickers, and frames to make your plain photo unique. The stickers and frames are trendy and the best thing is that you can bookmark your favorite stickers. With a simple and straightforward interface, Ottipo is easy to use. What’s more, it supports a number of languages and you can also use it in the offline mode. Download Ottipo Photo Editor

6. CatchUp

If you follow several services like Reddit, Medium, GitHub, etc, CatchUp is the perfect app for you. This simple app lists the top stories from all the services under a single roof, thus making it easy for you to access everything at one go. Plus, you can also see the comments and likes on the articles and the time when it was published. The best thing about CatchUp is that the smart links will link directly to the actual article or story when you tap on it. What’s more, you can reorder the services as per your preferences through the Settings menu. Download CatchUp

7. OneClock – Alarm Clock

Waking up in the mornings can be a torture for some. In fact, my alarm starts going off from 7 in the morning and it takes a minimum of three alarms to get me off my bed. If you are somebody like me who always ends up setting more than two alarms on a daily basis, the OneClock app will be your new BFF. The app is a no-brainer. You set an alarm and the app will go ahead and set up a couple of more alarms around that particular time. True to an Android app, you can customize the number of additional alarms and the time interval between the alarms as per your liking. Download OneClock – Alarm App

8. Nacho Notch — Notch Hider

Do you love the notch on your phone? If you don’t and your phone maker hasn’t included a built-in setting to turn it off, here’s an app which will be able to help you. The Nacho Notch app, well, it’s not an app in the strictest sense. It’s actually a Quick Tile on the Quick Settings menu which you can toggle to turn the notch on or off. Quite a nifty app (argh, I did that again), given that you don’t have to fumble for it in the app drawer. All you have to do is pull down the Quick settings menu and turn it off. Download Nacho Notch

Ever wanted to play your favorite PC game on your phone? The new Steam Link makes it possible. It brings desktop gaming to your phone through network streaming, which means that while you play, the PC continues to be the brains behind the games. All it needs is a Bluetooth controller and both the devices connected to the same local network. Download Steam Link
