From customizing the Face recognition feature to opening the One-Handed mode in an instant, there’s plenty of new things for you to explore. Hence, in this post, we have compiled a list of the best Samsung One UI 2.0 features and tricks.

Hello New Navigation Gestures

With Android 10, Google has changed the way you navigate on your phone (again). Though navigation gestures were a part of OneUI from the beginning, One UI 2.0 brings a handy little toggle to adjust the back gesture sensitivity. Reason? Well, Android 10’s native navigation gestures aren’t that seamless and fluid, especially when it comes to the back gesture. To counter that, Samsung has included a nifty slider, which lets you tweak the screen’s sensitivity. All you have to do is drag it left/right and adjust it as per your convenience. The settings appear under Display > Navigation bar > More options.

2. Add an Alternative Look

How many times has it been that the phone refuses to unlock just because you were wearing sunglasses? Well, if you faced similar a similar situation, let me tell you that respite is here in the form of the Alternative Look feature. As you may have guessed, it lets you register an alternate look of yours to improve face recognition. Cool, right? We tested, and it worked without any issues. To enable it, go to Settings, search for Face Recognition and tap on Add alternative look, And you know the rest. Speaking of alternatives, did you know that now the camera app comes packed with a few alternative options? For instance, you can set the camera mode as per your usage pattern, and you can make these changes right from the camera home page. If you recollect, you would have to dive deep into Settings to make these changes previously. Now, all you need to do is swipe left until you see More, as shown in the screenshot below. Tap on the little pencil icon and just tap and hold the modes to drag them where ever you like. That’s it. Next time you want to use your favorite camera mode, just a few swipes would do the trick.

3. Check out the New Device Care

Samsung has overhauled Device Care in One UI 2.0 update. Some sections have been redesigned to offer more information. If you open the battery section, you’ll see a comprehensive graph and also information on which apps are hogging your phone’s battery life. Other than that, the app also gives you the option to remove images in bulk from your phone if you are in a space-saving mood. All you need to do is open the Device Care option and select the necessary section to make the changes. Or if you are in a mood to do something new, you can also check out the Advanced settings under Storage.

4. Customize the Fingerprint Icon

Another cool new addition to the One UI 2.0 is that it lets you customize when the fingerprint icon appears on the screen. For now, you can choose to have the icon appear at all times, never, or only when the Always-on Display is active. To do so, search for Fingerprints in Settings, and This feature comes handy when you want to make sure that you’re keeping your finger on the right spot while unlocking your phone.

5. Add Emoji Alerts to Calendar

Emojis are everywhere! No, seriously. The stock Calendar app now allows you to add stickers to dates without creating an event. So, for instance, if you want to set a quick reminder for your bill payment on a particular date, you can just add a sticker and forget about it. When the date arrives, Calendar will aptly remind you to pay your bill with the sticker. A picture is worth a thousand words, they say. To do so, open the calendar app, and you will see an emoji icon below the selected date. Tap on it, select the one that describes your situation the best, and that’s about it.

6. Set Location-Based Reminders

Speaking of reminders, you can now set up location-based reminders for a specific time. You can also share reminders with your family group or any other group. To do so, open an event and tap on the Map button under Location. Enter the location where you’d like to be reminded of and then save it.

7. Files App

Accidentally deleted a file from your phone? Don’t panic! With this new version of One UI, you’ll be able to restore it in no time. The new Trash feature will keep your deleted content safe for around 15 days after you have deleted them. So if you hit the Delete button accidentally, you can easily jump into the folder and restore it with a single tap. To do so, open the Files app and tap on the three-dot button at the top-right corner and select Recycle Bin. You will see all the recently deleted files there. Select and hit the Restore button located at the ribbon below.

Explore Your Phone

Aside from the above, Samsung One UI 2.0 also adds several new features like speed & time units to the Calculator app and some changes to the stock browser, among others. So, all you need to do is dive into Settings and tweak them as per your convenience and preference. Next up: Thinking of switching from Google Chrome?
