1. Use the Dark Mode to Save Battery
OnePlus 3 sports an HD Optical AMOLED display, which in itself is a great battery saver when compared to regular LCD screens. However, you can tweak a few things in the Android settings menu to optimize battery life. The Oxygen OS hosts a built-in feature using which you can get a system-wide black theme. The settings can be found under Customization in settings menu and to match the elegant dark mode, you can also change the accent colors. Due to the science behind an AMOLED display, only the non-black portion of the screen will light up and will extend battery life throughout the day. Most 3rd party apps these days have a dark mode/theme, which you can activate to save additional battery.
2. Turn Off Gestures and Proximity Wake
The Oxygen OS gives the option to draw a gesture on the screen to wake up the device and even launch the camera app really quick. However, for this, the device has to have a service running in the background causing a wakelock which drains the battery. So if you are not using gestures frequently or think that you can live without them, I would suggest you to turn them off. The option can be found in the Gestures option in OnePlus 3 settings. Just tap on the Off switch in the top-right and all the options will be turned off. You can also turn off Proximity Wake feature in the Display settings that wakes up the device when a hand is waved over the proximity sensor to have a glance at the notifications. This feature also keeps your proximity awake all the time and therefore disabling it will indeed save battery life.
3. Use Invert Color Mode Wherever Necessary
In the first point, I have highlighted the option to use dark mode in the app wherever necessary. However not all the apps support the feature and you can still find many reading apps and browsers which have a white backdrop. In situations like these, you can pull down the notification drawer and tap on the Invert color option from the settings tiles. This will invert the colors and, make white back and vice versa and the rest of the work will be done by the Optical AMOLED Display. Once you are done, you can disable the option and get the display back to normal.
